Royal Kona Coffee's Awarded Gold Medals
Two of Royal Kona's coffees have recently been judged superior by the American Academy of Taste These coffees are Royal Kona¹s 100% Kona and 100% Kona Peaberry.
The American Academy of Taste, founded by Jesse Sartain - Master of Taste & Chef du Jury for over 20 years, is made up of top Chefs throughout the United States. These working Chefs of top restaurants and hotels have well trained palates with exemplary palate memories.
They have vast amounts of experience in tasting and judging food products as they have often been asked to participate in daily cuttings throughout their careers.
The judging process is never swayed by packaging as no labels are present during the judging. Every single product is assigned a number, which is used to identify an individual product. At no time do any of the Chef Judges know the source of any of the products, they only know the product category definition and the numbers of each product.
Scoring of various criteria is based on a number scale from one to ten. The overall score is the basis for whether a product can be judged superior, excellent, adequate, or poor. A superior product must receive an average score of at least a nine or ten. Royal Kona's 100% Kona and 100% Kona Peaberry were awarded scores judged superior.
